Strip Pieced Rails and Chain

Supplies needed:

12 fat quarters

1 5/8 yards background fabric ( this includes enough for inner border

5/8 yard binding fabric

1 yard outer border

Cutting instructions

Separate the 12 fat quarters into 2 sets of 6 each - Set A and Set B

SET A:

From each fat quarter cut one 8 1/2" strip and one 2 1/2" strip

They will be approximately 22" long (this is approximate, as all fat quarters are not the same measurement)

SET B:

From each fat quarter cut one 4 1/2" strip and one 6 1/2" strip

(again about 22" long)

BACKGROUND: (Be sure your background fabric is of high contract to the other fabrics. This will allow the chain to stand out.)

Cut 8 strips 2 1/2" wide

Cut each of these on half (will be about 22" long)

You will end up with 16

Other cutting instructions will be available Saturday.

It doesn't matter , color wise, which fat quarters make a set. This is a scrappy looking quilt.

Project: Disappearing 4 patch Quilt (52" x 60")

The following supplies make a 6 x 7 block layout. If you want a larger quilt, please

bring extra 5" squares OR make your 84 squares a larger size. My quilt is made from

10" squares.

Supplies: 84 (5") assorted print squares or 2 charm packs

84 (5") white squares or whatever solid you want to use

1/2 yd. of the above solid for a border

A rotating cutting mat is very helpful. If you don't have one, just bring 2 rulers and

I will show you how to cut your 4 patches.

*If you want to try out any of the techniques demonstrated at the April Meeting, Mary will be glad to help you*

4 Hour Quilt---yes, it can be done.
photo.JPG
photo.JPG

Finished size: 60" x 72"

Supplies:

1 yard Dark Fabric

1 yard Medium Fabric

2 1/2 yards Light Background Fabric

1 1/2 yard Border Fabric

These amounts are generous. It may take a bit less for the border fabric if you use the same fabric as your dark. But if you want to join your border pieces by miter, buy the extra amount.

If you want to get a head start, please cut (32) 6 1/2" background squares.

10 strips of a contrasting fabric, 2 1/2" by width of fabric.

We have two options for this month! Join us and make one or both!

It would be very helpful to go to this website to see the tutorial and pictures. This would help you to select your fabrics. If you choose this option, it would be beneficial for you to print the instructions. It would be cost prohibitive for me to make color copies for everyone. Sorry.
