Patty C presented the Treasurer’s Report. Treasurer’s report was approved as read and filed with the Secretary’s minutes.

The January meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather. Peggy P made a motion to dispense with the reading of the December, 2013 meeting minutes. Gerri H seconded the motion. Motion approved.

Retreat Committee: Donna showed miscellaneous paper pieced patterns she has available for her class. Sharon showed the Spicy Spiral table runner, Ginny showed the Tulip quilt and Gina showed several projects for her class.

For our pampering pleasure, there will be a massage therapist attending the retreat. We will, again this year, have a raffle basket and an auction. Bring new or slightly used items to donate for the auction.

Please do not plan on arriving before noon. No lunch will be provided on Friday so bring your lunch or you can order pizzas there.

Mary S passed away on January 1. Our guild will donate a book to the library in her memory.

Phyllis B lost her only son in Tennessee recently. She wants to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and cards.

Old Business:

Snow Day policy/meeting cancellation: The general rule will be, if school is closed for weather, we will probably cancel our meeting. Watch you e-mail for a cancellation notice. If you feel it is unsafe to drive, please don’t try to come.

New Business:

Pat will ask for a volunteer to chair the Picnic Committee at a later meeting.

Linda B volunteered to put the meeting notice in the paper.

Bev B asked if the Activity Committee (Gina) could check into the possibility of chartering a bus for the Columbus quilt show in May. Gina will investigate.

Possible upcoming program - Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

We received a thank you note from the MidPoint Library for our $50 donation in appreciation for the use of their meeting room. We also received a thank you card from the Franklin-Springboro Public Library for the donation in memory of Jan H.

Cindy received a letter from the City of Middletown asking if any of our members would like to volunteer to participate in the City’s Ambassador Program for their First Friday events held downtown on Central Avenue. Peggy P, Pat P, Gina Hand Mary Svolunteered for the first Friday in April. Karen will inform city coordinator, Noah P.

Pat P raised the problem she is having reserving the large meeting room in the library for our first Monday of the month meetings. She gave three viable options: Take whatever evening of the month we can reserve the room; find an alternate meeting place or impeach her as president and someone else take the position. A lengthy discussion ensued. In the end, a straw poll was taken and it was agreed to just be happy with whatever date Pat can get the library. Pat gets the date three months in advance so the dates will be placed in the newsletter and also on Wiki. Next meeting is March 24 (Monday after our retreat).

A motion was made to adjourn by Gina Hand seconded by Geri H.

Respectfully submitted,

Karen C, Secretary, BBQG

Mary S passed out a 5 yard quilt pattern to everyone and a questionnaire.

After adjournment there was Show and Tell and we went around the room and told what our quilting goals are for 2014.

Prior to the meeting, members brought in their pizza boxes for the Pizza Box Challenge. They were passed out at the end of the meeting. If you miss a meeting and are unable to send your pizza box to the next meeting, please make another block so whoever’s box you have won’t be short a block. Thank you.
